Multilayer Stack Calculator is a free optical thin-film transfer matrix tool for reflectance, transmittance, absorptance, layer absorption, field profiles, s/p polarization, angle sweeps, thickness sweeps, and Palik or refractiveindex.info material data. Enable JavaScript to run simulations.
Data notice. This Palik release is still being reviewed. Some digitized data points may be inaccurate; use these data at your own risk.
Upload a three-column text or CSV table. The file is converted to the calculator's internal wavelength-in-microns and n + ik format; the controls below are inferred when possible and remain editable.
Use exactly three numeric columns: a spectral coordinate followed by either n, k for ñ = n + ik, or ε′, ε″ for ε = ε′ + iε″. Commas, semicolons, tabs, or spaces are accepted.
One optional header row is allowed. Include names and units such as wavelength_nm,n,k or frequency_THz,epsilon_real,epsilon_imag to improve automatic detection. Numeric rows may run in either direction, but spectral coordinates must be positive and unique. At least two rows are required.
wavelength_nm,n,k
frequency_THz,epsilon_real,epsilon_imag
The calculator uses the passive-loss convention k ≥ 0 and ε″ ≥ 0, interpolates linearly between samples, and never extrapolates beyond the uploaded range.
