Reference
image dipole at a perfect mirror (Drexhage; Chance, Prock & Silbey)
Kind
analytic: a closed form, limit or conservation law: independent of any code
Calculated
perpendicular and parallel rates, electric and magnetic; validates the Sommerfeld reference below
Agreement
1e-10; observed 1e-15
A dipole above a perfect mirror: the Sommerfeld reference against the image dipole (Drexhage; Chance, Prock & Silbey) This row checks the reference, not PyStratify: the Sommerfeld integrals written without PyStratify (emitter_references.py), given a perfect mirror (r_s = −1, r_p = 1), must give the image dipole's closed form, Drexhage's oscillations; a magnetic dipole sees the mirror with the opposite sign. The same integrals are then PyStratify's reference for real stacks (the Sommerfeld row, 1e-10).
